Domain names come with hundreds of different extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .com.au and .co.uk. In most cases they represent the geographic location or country of the website that the domain name was registered, though it is now possible to have a what is known as top-level domains (TLD) that represents your business or event.

All websites should be secure…that is a no brainer.

The websites RapidWebSites create use HTTPS protocols…at no extra cost!

This is when the little lock symbol appears in the web address bar, indicating you are on a secure website.

The main motivation for HTTPS is authentication of the visited website and protection of the privacy and integrity of the exchanged data.

It used to be only available to high end corporate websites but today, all websites can and should use HTTPS to protect both yourself and the people who visit your website.

Historically, HTTPS connections were primarily used for payment transactions, e-mail and for sensitive transactions in corporate information systems.

HTTPS provides authentication of the website and associated web server with which one is communicating, it helps to protect against man-in-the-middle attacks. Additionally, it provides bidirectional encryption of communications between a client and server, which helps protect against eavesdropping and tampering with or forging the contents of the communication.

It means your sites internet connection is encrypted by a secure layer to help prevent against hacks, it provides a reasonable guarantee that you and your clients are communicating with precisely the website that they intended to communicate with (as opposed to an impostor), as well as ensuring that the contents of communications between the user and site cannot be read or forged by any third party.

In today's modern world there are no guarantees against being hacked but we should all use whatever methods we can to help ensure our website is secure and wherever possible keep user communications, identity and web browsing private.

Providing you use our hosting services and we manage your site, all the websites we create use HTTPS protocols at no extra cost.
